The osmosis or purified water filter system can be connected to this faucet. The system should be mounted in the vicinity of the pressure lines. The solenoid valve, which is fitted between the tap and the osmosis plant (small tip, solenoid valves from the horticulture department are 50% cheaper than those for aquariums), should be equipped with a connection. When you buy the solenoid valve, it is essential to set the pressure in the water line at 3 bar, a pressure of 5 bar being ideal.
Once the solenoid valve is mounted, test the tightness of the supply line to the osmosis system, check whether the power is turned off and that no water is directed to the plant. You should also check whether the line is also completely sealed.
Now you have to perform the final assembly of the electrical and osmosis system. First, you cut the cord for the power connection of the solenoid valve to the desired length, so the distance to the aquarium is appropriate and the outlets are properly connected to the pumps. The next step is the cutting of the hose of the water line. A piece of tubing is used to connect the T-piece with the shut-off valves to the osmosis system.
The next step is the connection of the electricity cable to switch B. And the connection of the osmosis unit and the solenoid valve are closed. Turning on the tap of the tee can open the switch so the refill operation is carried out.
Now, it is time for a short break so that you get ready to move the refill hose and the power cord...
Once the hose and cable are laid, you start preparing the switch. The power supply for the switch-off, the power cord of the solenoid valve and the cable of the float switch are connected. Once this is done, both parts can be built but do not forget the power plug!
Now the float switch is mounted as well as a cable, which was previously associated with the electronics, so that there is an optimal water level at the surface. The supply tube is now in the aquarium and should be well secured. It should be secured with silicone, so this is connected firmly to the aquarium.
The system is now ready! You just have to activate the switch-off of the electronics and you are recommended to let the system run for about sixty seconds or longer. Open the float switch so that the proper water level is reached and let the system run for another sixty seconds.
Functioning
If the water level in the basin of the float switch closes and sends a control signal, the solenoid valve is opened. Switch off the solenoid valve and the water flow is interrupted after sixty seconds.
Press the power button in order to fill the water tank, switch on the valve on the tee and switch on the main switch, too. The filling device should not be operative as long as this barrel is filled!
This solution costs 200 euro, including the osmosis unit, which is very cheap and effective. The operation is maintenance-free, so you should only make sure that the float switch can be moved and that you eventually secure the entire system with a water level alarm, should something actually happen...
So, have a lot of fun and good luck with your aquarium.
