Fast Food for Working People

Those who have a stressful job - almost always around the clock - are most likely to check out the fast food offers when it comes to satisfying their hunger. They usually go to a cafeteria at noon and shove a frozen pizza in the oven in the evening... Things can be different. Here's how.

Overwork

You know it well: you can hardly get out of bed in the morning because you worked too long again yesterday? So you have to run at the office and you take a sandwich on the go, a sandwich which only contains a lettuce leaf, but plenty of butter, fat cheese or salami. Since you do not really have time for an extended lunch break, you shove numerous sweets in your desk drawer, but they disappear quickly and you haven't had a snack.
For lunch, you go either to the cafeteria or to the snack bar next door to get something because this is the fast way. Vitamins and other important nutrients remain are mostly left behind. If you are exhausted at the end of the day, you come home determined not to spend any time in the kitchen, figuring out some kind of complicated menu. What is left other than pushing a ready meal in the microwave.....?!

There is another way!

Those who skip breakfast in the morning due to the lack of time do not really win anything because the body needs to get a good start, it needs energy or it limps faster than you would like it to. You should eat some whole grain cereals and some fresh fruit or a thick slice of bread with low-fat cheese, cream cheese, cucumbers or tomatoes.

Breakfast

Who can use a refrigerator at work and put some low-fat yogurt or milk aside. The muesli should remain hygienically clean and fresh in a plastic box in a desk drawer. If you add a banana or some dried fruit, you have a healthy breakfast or a healthy snack ready in the office without much effort.

Snack

A quick snack could consist of an apple, a banana or a pear. You can prepare a fresh fruit salad and take it with you at work. Cherry tomatoes or baby carrots in a bowl on the desk should be no problem and you can eat them whenever you feel your stomach growling. Low-fat yoghurt provides a good amount of protein and it is refreshing and filling.

Hot food

Learn how to grill or cook for yourself in large quantities! Take whatever you feel like eating on the spot and then freeze the rest so that you do not have to worry about cooking anymore. You could take your lunch to work if you have a microwave oven and avoid warming up the fat and often high-calorie cafeteria food.
There are a lot of options for those who want to have warm food, options which enable you to skip all the fats and all the other substances which are activated when warmed up. There are certain ways of choosing your food when you go to a cafeteria or to a canteen, but this is another story.
You can safely freeze your vegetables if you want to save your cooking time. They are already washed, trimmed, blanched and cut and also contain plenty of vitamins, just like fresh vegetables because they were frozen immediately after the harvest. But always read the ingredients list! Ready meals often contain additives of vegetable fat and flavor enhancers. These products should only land in your shopping cart in case of an emergency.
There are salads which are cut into portions and ready to be bought in the supermarket. You can prepare the dressing very quickly: a little oil, a dash of vinegar, a dab of honey for taste, salt, pepper and frozen herbs. The dressing is ready and you can serve your salad at the office.

Drinking

Our brains need a lot of liquid in order to be highly performing. A bottle of water, mineral water or a pot of unsweetened tea should always be within your reach, so do not forget them at home when you storm out of the house.
If you lack the energy at night, you can start cooking, but you can also ask your partner to help you when cooking or invite friends over. Being side by side in the kitchen can make your day a lot better and you can forget about all the trouble you had at work. The cooking will actually do itself.
Finally, there are also other important things in life than work! You cannot just pretend that you have to work all day and let the important things like your body and your needs aside.
As you can see, you have a lot of options when it comes to food, so you should avoid the unhealthy ones because the chances are high that you will regret this rush of yours in the end. Fast food and junk food cause a lot of health problems, so they only replace your needs on the short run.
